The DC Activist Street Band formed in 2024 in response to rising injustice and authoritarianism. We bring sound, spirit, and solidarity to the streets of Washington, DC as a joyful act of resistance.
Inspired by the street band movement and influenced by New Orleans second line tradition, klezmer, labor and civil rights songs; our music brings engagement, energy, and resolve to protests, marches, and other events. We stand in solidarity with movements fighting for a more just and equitable world.
The band is inclusive and open to all. No matter your skill level, the most important thing is to show up. We welcome not only musicians, but also singers, dancers, and performers who want to raise their voices alongside us. Through music and creative expression we strive to inspire activism, celebrate community, create joy, and fight for justice.
